Rogue Rehearses in a Black Box

Mar 31, 2022

Three images from Rogue’s rehearsal in the Opera House’s appropriately named Black Box. Black walls, black ceiling, and no windows, the only light a few harsh, straight down ceiling lights. Precious. I stood in a doorway with a wide-angle lens for most of these (it does zoom to normal when needed). The effect is like when you see indoor pictures on line designed to make the room look spacious – NOT. ISO readings ran from 6400 to 12800 – catching somewhere in the middle between what was lit by the overhead lights, and what was not. The rest was a job for raw recovery.

The opening image captures something of an airborne moment – ok, nobody here jumps as high as April. Some of the musicians can be seen in the background, a couple of others were just out of the picture along the wall to my left.

The image with the chairs is the final note of the song and dance number Mein Herr.

Added to the front end of the Rogue Swan folio page for Next Chapter Rehearsals HERE full size, downloadable, etc.

Rogue performances are always great. I photograph them, seeing the show full throiugh twice – and Nan gets a ticket to both of those so she can too. She enjoys the second performance as much as, if not more than, the first. https://hdgoperahouse.org/event/rogue-swan-presents-the-next-chapter-unfolds/
