Even in early rehearsals Katie and James “become" Mrs Lovett and Sweeney Todd. By the time the show gets here, it will be second nature to them. In the intro shot Mrs Lovett is serving Sweeney one of her “Worst Pies in London” – which his expression confirms. But what could be worth the price of the show is the scene in the shot below. Katie is working the pie dough while singing the tune and talking to Sweeney – and it’s worthwhile watching her closely. That’s as much as I’m gonna say on the subject…

Rehearsals allow me to get in sync with the pace of the show, know what is coming next and be ready during the performance. Dress rehearsal helps me get there as much as it helps the cast. For this show, I’ll probably be able to shoot three shows – with the complication in this venue that I will be forced to (again) swing back and forth between two cameras, with two very different zooms (I do prefer working with smaller stages)…
