For this posting I decided to just put up these back-to-back shots. The Beadle is settling down to his complimentary shave in the first shot. The second shot is the instant he reasized something is amiss. In this production the rest goes rather quickly, and without all the prolonged squirting blood that the movie made us endure (probably more realistic but putting quite a damper on the whole thing). James is Sweeney and Nate (surprisingly) is pretty convincing as the slimy Beadle…

There’s something real about these scenes, without benefit of stage sets and orchastra, requiring more in the way of imagination to watch. We’ve seen Shakespeare actually performed that way. Big run-thru tomorrow…
