The primary purpose here is to post the Cast Portrait. This is definitely a different production, it is just before the second performance and everyone is in the “mood”. The shot includes full cast, along with the dancers from the pre-show – the Band photo will come later when I can be on site back stage when the curtain goes down. They tend to pack-up and disappear very quickly (herding cats?).

The second shot here is one of the three dancers in the pre-show – Maire. This was her starting position. It’s the only exposure I was able to use, and it was at least one stop underexposed at ISO 56,100 – an insane exposure. Using only 20% of the image, interpolating and beating it to death, I came up with something I really like. Naturally I claim to have planned all that (not). I even worked up a color version for Maire’s parents – "don’t tell mama" that I even went near “color”.

Ps: I still exposed it at iso 12,800, preferring to morph the totally dark image back from the dead in raw rather than letting the camera mess it up…
