Sweeney Todd Sneak Peeks – Doing it on the stage…

Sep 24, 2024

Finally, midst all the back and forth coordinating with the orchestra (better than listening to “rehearsal track” every 30 seconds), the cast gets to rehearse on stage. Me, I’m busy trying out camera-lens combinations, vantage points, etc. For this rehearsal I used a lens I haven’t picked up in four years, my 80-305 equivalent. It, like any lens, has negatives and positives – expecially with lenses, everything is a trade-off. Tonight I’ll shoot with the 75-200 equivalent. It’s a little faster and sharper, but a little less of a zoom while extremely heavy, ouch. In the intro shot here Sweeney doesn’t seem to be very happy to be blackmailed…

Early in the intro, the characters make their first appearance – though this kind of thing makes a much better impression in costume, I kind of like the real look of rehearsal…

I call this one “Happy Dance with Meat cleaver”…
