"Something Wicked" (rehearsal) – faces in the dark…
Aug 14, 2025
Here’s the rest of what I eked out of the dark garage. The intro shot was taken from the doorway – in full wide-angle, making it all look much roomier than it is. The back end is walled off with plexiglass to keep the drum sound under control. The other three shots here were taken by setting focus on auto and holding the camere either way off to the side or down low, hoping for the best:
Tried forJeremy’s face but didn’t like that one, liked the one where I just got the sax in focus, cool:

Jazz on an array of instruments, varying according to the number, and JimmyO far in the back on drums. I couldn’t see but parts of either one, but with the camera up and at arms length, I managed to snag these…

A few of the cast has been missing from a couple of rehearsals, they’re in a production of Godspell elsewhere. Looks like Monday will bring everyone back into the fold for some serious work. In the meantime, I’m happy with some of the closeups I’m getting. Plus, as always, I’m concentrating on watching the numbers, working on getting a feel for what is coming as they progress – getting ready to be able to anticipate important shots in the show itself. As fast as things move, it takes a lot of familiarity to manage the “catches”.
