While the Coffee shop, after hours, isn’t ideal, there is a lot more room than most available rehearsal venues. Most dance rehearsals (all dances are part of the plot in this show) are semi-organized chaos at this point – the goal being choreographed, organized chaos. In the intro shot, April (our resident bellydancer) really gets into practicing her leap moment. My challenge in the show is to know what is coming at every turn and be ready for it.

This one doesn’t show me with the lens set on maximum wide-angle and firing off quickly as I rush to keep from being trampled – the way they are all concentrating, I work to make sure I keep out of the way…

We’ve gone over the rehearsal schedule and figure we’ll only have to miss one or two, both not critical. The final two weeks before the show are set aside for a lot of shooting (as important for “rehearsing” shots as getting some), cast portrait work and printing of new, very cool, Cast Cards.
