Moonshine Mardi Gras Hafla 2026 – Naimah

Feb 11, 2026

The Moonshine Mardi Gras Hafla was held at the renovated State Theatre this year – and attracted a pretty good crowd. That was even though it was fast approaching 8 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I’ve given the color jpegs over on Flickr to the dancers. Bellydance haflas are always a challenge – with each young lady, or group, I cross my fingers and hope for at least one exposure that will make for a good b&w. With Naima, the act I’m starting with, this backfired a little. It was torture cutting it down to nine that I like – unwilling to let any of them go. Naimah, who always gives a good show, can decide – and, no, nobody else left that much of an impression on my camera (five or so will be the closest). Naimah, the tallest lady (or gentleman, there was one) in the show, began her performance in total darkness, hence the intro shot showing what I pulled out of an almost completely black exposure. they appear here in order of exposure…

Thies images launch the Folio for the event HERE, where they can be viewed larger and downloaded – the rest will be added as I work them up.  Here’s the link fo the Hafla INDEX, it includes all past events…
